Propaganda as Quantum Manipulations 2025

----------------------------------

In both quantum physics and propaganda, perception plays a decisive role in shaping reality. In a quantum system, a particle remains in a superposition of possible states until observation occurs and the wave function collapses into a single reality. In a similar way, propaganda influences how events are perceived and interpreted: complex realities are reduced to unambiguous narratives, making a specific ‘truth’ dominant. This process is not limited to the media as a transmitter, but arises in a dynamic interplay between event, expectation, perception and response. Just as measurement determines the outcome in quantum physics, propaganda activates a process in which perception and participation together form a new reality.

Media theorist Marshall McLuhan introduced the concept of Acoustic Space, an immersive, fragmented and non-hierarchical sensory experience, as opposed to Ocular Centrism, a linear, measurable and controlled perspective. Where Ocular Centrism revolves around rational direction, focus and demarcation, Acoustic Space is characterised by simultaneous, diffuse influences in which meanings form organically. Propaganda does not operate outside this spatiality, but rather within it: it nestles in the subconscious dynamics of collective perception and reinforces itself through participation. Just as in a quantum system, no unambiguous 'truth' is created by a single measurement, but reality unfolds within a field of probability, in which framing, emotion and mutual influence continuously generate new ‘probabilities’. Do both propaganda and quantum mechanics function in this Acoustic Space, where meaning is not imposed linearly, but is created in interaction?
